You Can’t Hurry Love

"You Can't Hurry Love," released by the Supremes in 1966, was one of the twelve number one Motown hits written by Holland-Dozier-Holland. It charted again (at ten) for Phil Collins in 1982. Don't miss Diana Ross's solo performance at the bottom of the post.

Music begins at 0:50, but the intro is sort of interesting. Sorry about the sound quality and the off key vocal. On second thought, maybe it isn't that interesting.

I don't know who had the rights to the name, but I would hardly call this group "The Supremes" in 2013, without Diana Ross, Mary Wilson, or Cindy Birdsong:

All I will say is that The Supremes, especially Diana Ross and the Supremes, can't hold a candle to the less commercial but grittier and better Martha Reeves and the Vandellas.
It was just after You Can't Hurry Love that the Supremes turned into confectionary junk and a vehicle for Miss Diane as Mary Wilson called her.

Well, it's officially down to friends, and family. Well done!
    Ah, what was once was.
