Belmont University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Belmont University College of Law. Belmont is a private, Christ-centered university located in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic cities in the nation. Home to nearly 9,000 students from across the country and around the world, Belmont is committed to academic excellence, character formation, and educating students to lead lives of purpose and integrity.

 

Educating nearly 400 aspiring legal leaders annually, Belmont Law has earned a reputation for rigorous academic learning, practical legal preparation, and extraordinary performance on the bar exam. In July 2025, Belmont achieved the highest first-time bar passage rate in Tennessee at 96.91% (on 97 test takers), reflecting a longstanding track record of preparing practice-ready attorneys. The 2024 graduating class also boasted a 97% employment rate. Belmont Law’s three-year, full-time JD program is enhanced by additional offerings to meet today’s students’ needs, including a dual JD/MBA program as well as certificates in criminal, entertainment & music business, and healthcare law. The College is housed in the 75,000 square foot Baskin Center on Belmont’s campus, two miles from downtown Nashville.

 

Reporting to the Provost & Executive Vice President for Academic Excellence, the Dean of Belmont University College of Law will serve as the College’s chief academic and administrative leader. Belmont seeks a dynamic, visionary, and collaborative Dean who will champion academic excellence; support faculty scholarship; facilitate a culture of whole-person formation; and cultivate strong relationships with students, alumni, donors, and partners. Our preferred candidate will bring excellent character, strategic and organizational leadership, strong fiscal and fund-raising capabilities, and a commitment to Belmont’s Christ-centered, student-focused mission. Candidates must hold a JD from an ABA-accredited institution and possess a record of scholarly, professional, and/or administrative accomplishment that merits appointment as a tenured full professor.
