This just in, from the incredibly media-savvy Court Communications Officer at Iowa Supreme Court. The Court will hand down a decision in an important gay marriage case, Varnum v. Brien, tomorrow at 8:30 a.m., Central Time.  Set your watches, alarm clocks, cell phones, etc.  The trial court ruling, and the appeals briefs, are here.  The lower court held that the state's policy of limiting marriage to heterosexual couples was unconstitutional under Iowa's state constitution – as a violation of both due process and equal protection.  The trial judge, Robert Hanson, suspended his ruling pending appeal.  The Des Moines Register has a good article on the case here.  Counsel to the appellees was Dorsey & Whitney, along with Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund.
