My labor-side firm defended a crazy case against a union a couple years ago (eventually dismissed), which, among its many other defendants, included Jimmy Hoffa Jr (who we did not represent). It was totally baseless to include Hoffa as a defendant, but I think the plaintiffs' attorneys thought it would add some cache to the litigation.
The plaintiffs' attorneys deposed Hoffa over the telephone and at the end no defense attorneys asked any questions. I asked my supervising partner, who was at the deposition, why he didn't ask any questions, and he said "because I want to have a career." I then asked what he would have said if he did, and he said, of course, "Just one question Mr. Hoffa; can you tell me where your father is?"
