Kellye Testy New Dean At University of Washington

Kellye-testy-dean  As Brian Leiter notes, Seattle University's law dean – Kellye Testy – has been selected the new dean of the University of Washington School of Law.  Brian notes her salary – $352,000 per year – as eye-catching, given the overall UW compensation situation.  My sense is that this salary is on the higher end, but nowhere near the top, of the law dean salary scale.  It's a nice bump for Testy, however.  She was apparently paid $241,000 at Seattle.  At least as interesting, for me, is the decision of a sitting dean to move to a competitor within the market.  That doesn't happen so often.

Testy is a graduate of Indiana-Bloomington law school where she  placed first in the class and was the EIC of the ILJ.

As the Seattle University Spectator notes, this completes the trade that sent UW assistant basketball coach Cameron Dollar to Seattle University last month.  I wonder which person is earning more money?

The timing of this announcement is somewhat odd, given that Seattle's graduation ceremony is this weekend. Query whether the university's president will borrow from the world of college football and ask an "associate dean" to "coach" the team in the "bowl game."
