I thought I'd posted about this already — but I guess not. Here are three youtube videos I enjoy. The first — which I was thinking about recently as I was nostalgic for my time in Tuscaloosa after the Crimson Tide's national championship — is "Big Time in the Jungle." It's about an army recruit from …. yes, Eutaw, Alabama! Close readers of the faculty lounge will recall that I blogged extensively about Eutaw, the county seat of Greene County last summer. Though I take it the song is by the Old Crow Medicine Show, this version is by the Foggy Bottom Bandits.
The next video is of Dan Tyminski's song, "Some Early Morning." This one I first heard in Chapel Hill.
Then final one is a monologue by Smokey Robinson, "A black American." I heard this while driving through DC last winter break. Pretty creative.
