Rankings Fever: Top 10 Mormon Friendly Law Schools

Thanks to the Salt Lake City Tribune, we learn that a website – mormonlawyers.com – has created a top 10 list for (as they put it) "Mr./Mrs. Mormon Pre-Law Student". The methodology incorporates the number of active Mormon students, distance to an LDS temple, cost of living, tuition, and US News ranking. And to keep the competition fair, Utah and BYU were excluded. Not so sure about the methodology but hey – it was good enough for the Salt Lake City Tribune! The verdict? Here are the top 10. 1. Arizona State 2. UNLV 3. GW 4. George Mason 5. Texas Tech 6. Houston 7. Gonzaga 8. Idaho 9. Oklahoma City 10. Lewis and Clark.

Not that it really matters, but this study uses numerators (how many Mormon students) without denominators (total class size). And, fwiw, the Mormon Temple is about 10 miles from GMUSL, not 21. They probably measured from the main campus, not the law school.

In some cases I think that brute numbers are more important than percentages, as far as, say, the ability to form a community and associate with people with similar interests. This seems likely to me to be such a case, though I can't say with certainty.
