Amazon Targets The Textbook & Diaper Crowds

I don't know about other folks, but I always wish I could justify joining Amazon Prime.  I'd love to get two day delivery all the time…but not at the price of the $79 annual fee.  Amazon is now leveraging it's Prime service as a way to win particular segments of the last-minute-shopping public: textbook and diaper buyers.  Or as they call them, students and Amazon Moms.

It makes sense.  Nobody is going to buy diapers at Amazon if they have to wait seven days; even highly organized  new parents don't plan that much.  And college students?  They're last minute shoppers as well, especially when it comes to costly textbooks.

Of course, once you're in the door – all signed up and ready to go – you can get everything else you desire via 2-day delivery.  It almost makes me want to have another child or go back to grad school.

On second thought,  maybe I should just fork out the 79 clams.

    Dan – Ask your school's bookstore if you think students don't buy textbooks from Amazon (with or without Amazon Prime).

    I have been told by staff at two other schools that all one needs is an edu email account. Those who told me this are signed up for prime and are not students. I have no idea if it satisfies Amazons rules but seemingly it works.
