If I'm remembering correctly, there was a thread on the Associate Dean list-serve recently about whether any schools have "civility codes" for conduct during faculty meetings. I remember folks raising doubts that such a code would have any positive impact on faculty that couldn't be civil during meetings. And I think the question was raised whether faculty would just spend meeting time arguing about the proper interpretation of the civility code.
But I have a better idea. What about bringing in Supernanny to deal with uncivil faculties? I mean, if she can whip British and American dysfunctional families into shape, can you imagine what she could do with a law faculty? I would like to pitch this to one of the networks. We could call it "Supernanny: Law School Edition". What do you think?
What is the point of this posting? It adds nothing to this discussion.
No point at all really. Sometimes even a serious law professor such as myself needs to take things less seriously…
Anonprof needs some time at the naughty desk.
This post was precisely for anonprof! Civility anyone?!
Spot on Kendall!
I think Anonprof was being sarcastic?
You know, since my kids were in preschool, I've thought that a faculty circle time, every morning before classes start, would do wonders for faculty civility.
