This year William and Mary's Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Conference will meet a little ways away from Williamsburg, where is it usually held, … in Beijing, on October 14 and 15.
The conference always has a great line-up of speakers and one of the highlights of the conference is the presentation of the annual award for contributions to property. This year the honoree is Justice Sandra Day O'Conner. (Past recipients, including legal historians Jim Ely and Carol Rose, are here.)
This year they have a particularly terrific line-up of speakers – all of the previous Brigham-Kanner award winners and a number of leading property scholars, including legal historian Greg Alexander, my former Hawaii colleague David Callies, Lee Fennell, and Henry Smith, among many others. The program is here and an expanded version is here. This promises to be a terrific conference! The setting will invite a great discussion about the institution of property.
