Memphis law professor Jim Smoot passed away earlier this week. He joined the Memphis law faculty in 1990 and served as dean from 2004 until 2008, during which time he played a key role in relocating the law school to its current downtown facility. The law school's announcement is here.
Smoot was a Yale law grad; his classmates included Bill and Hillary Clinton and Clarence Thomas.
