Sawers Stepping into the Lounge

Brian Sawers of the University of Maryland's Francis King Carey School of Law is stepping into the lounge to sit with us for a spell.  Brian has previously taught at George Mason as a visiting assistant professor of law and been an O'Connor Fellow at Arizona State University's Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.  He teaches in the areas of Business Associations and Torts.  Brian is a summa graduate of Duke in economics and Harvard Law School — which is further evidence that we need to rename this blog the North Carolina facutly lounge.  Brian's research interests include property and law & economics. Currently, he is writing about how lawmakers redefined property in the 19th century to limit the economic opportunities of newly-freed slaves.  Some of his recent papers are available at ssrn — I think you will be particularly interested in his "Racial Origins of the Right to Exclude."  It's a very exciting piece.
