Derek Black to South Carolina

PA310051 My friend and former colleague Derek W. Black is moving from Howard to the University of South Carolina School of Law.  Close readers of the faculty lounge may recall that Derek's been sitting with us some this spring.

Derek's publications include Education Law: Equality, Fairness, and Reform (forthcoming Aspen 2012) and such articles as "Middle Income Peers as Educational Resources and the Constitutional Right to Equal Access" in the Boston College Law Review, "The Congressional Failure to Enforce Equal Protection Through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act" in the Boston University Law Review in 2010, and "Unlocking the Power of State Constitutions with Equal Protection: The First Step Toward Education as a Federally Protected Right," in the William and Mary Law Review in 2010.

Welcome to the SEC, Derek!

Thanks for the kind comments. Claire Raj, my wife, will be teaching juvenile justice and skills courses as a visiting professor for one year, but will not be joining the faculty on a full time basis. We are both excited to join our new community in Columbia.
