Thanks to a pointer from Danny Goldberg I see that it's now very unlikely that victims of the North Carolina's Eugenics Board's sterilization program will be included in this year's budget.
I have blogged extensively about the case for payments this spring. There posts are collected here. Perhaps next year will bring a more positive — and I might add — more just result.

This comment is five days old – ages old in blog commentary age – but I am still writing b/c I wonder – why spend time on an issue like this? I agree it was wrong, but the wrongness of this does not seem very high – in terms of how long ago it occurred and the number of people impacted. But, of all the issues in the world that need attention, this one just doesn't seem that important. Why spend very much time on it?
