Professor Mary Elizabeth Magill, who has served as the vice-dean of the University of Virginia School of Law since 2009, has been named the new dean of Stanford. She replaces Larry Kramer and will take her position on September 1. (One wonders whether this "sudden" departure from UVa will generate negative buzz similar to this stuff.) Magill, who holds her JD from UVa and clerked for Justice Ginsburg, is a con law and administrative law scholar. She joined the UVa faculty immediately after her Supreme Court clerkship in 1997.
This is fantastic news! Congratulations to Stanford and to Dean Magill.
