PC150625From our friends at Elon comes news of their dean search.  I see that Witt/Kieffer is consulting on the search — they're everywhere these days, it seems. Some of our readers haven't yet had the pleasure of spending time in Greensboro.  It's a very exciting city in a really beautiful state and it is a vibrant community.  Plus, Elon has a really dynamic faculty.  This will certainly draw some terrific candidates. Cribbing now from the announcement:

Elon University School of Law in Greensboro, North Carolina,
seeks an outstanding leader with a deep knowledge of and commitment to legal
education for the position of Dean of the School of Law.

Established in 2006 and fully accredited by the ABA in 2011,
Elon Law School supports a full-time faculty of 38 and enrolls 330
students.  True to the history and achievement of Elon University, the
School has exceeded expectations in its short life span and has already gained
recognition for its innovative approach to legal education.  The National
Jurist recognized Elon Law as one of the top 20 most innovative law schools in
2012, and the ABA awarded the 2013 E. Smythe Gambrell Professionalism Award to
the School for its Law and Leadership Program.

Elon University School of Law prepares students to be
exceptional lawyers through a rigorous core curriculum, including a leadership
program that equips students to address regional, national, and global
challenges in an environment that emphasizes innovative teaching and an array
of field-based experiences.  Students engage the law through clinics, moot
court, trial advocacy, and field-placement programs, as well as a preceptor
program through which more than 50 attorneys serve as mentors to law students
from the start of their law school experience.

The law school’s advisory board is chaired by a former adviser
to four U.S. presidents and includes a former North Carolina governor as well
as three former Chief Justices of the North Carolina Supreme Court.  The
law school’s new, high-tech facilities in downtown Greensboro include the North
Carolina Business Court, making Elon Law one of the few law schools in the
country to house a working court.  The School of Law is one of six schools
in Elon University, a selective, independent liberal arts university of
approximately 6,000 students that is renowned as a national model for engaged
learning and one of only seven private universities in the nation with
accredited schools of law, business, communications, and education, along with
a Phi Beta Kappa chapter. More information can be found at www.law.elon.edu
and www.elon.edu.

The successful candidate will, at a minimum, possess a J.D. degree
and have an outstanding record of accomplishment in the legal academy and/or
the practice of law which warrants appointment as a Professor of Law.  He
or she will be a successful teacher, will excel at scholarship, will be a
proven leader, and will have demonstrated a commitment to service to the legal
profession and the public. The University actively encourages applications from
and nominations of women, minorities, and candidates with diverse cultural
backgrounds.

Credential review begins immediately and will continue until the
position is filled.  Nominations, applications, expressions of interest,
and requests for the complete leadership profile should be sent electronically
to Lucy Leske or Werner Boel, the Witt/Kieffer consultants for the Elon School
of Law dean search, at ElonLawDean@wittkieffer.com.  A
