Legal Services For The Middle Class? Try Wal-Mart

You can get your portrait at Wal-Mart.  You can get a new pair of specs.  Now, in Toronto, you can also get a will for $99.  The Toronto Star reports that a law firm called Axess Law is now retailing their legal services in selected Wal-Marts.

You can already get a bargain-basement legal will in the United States.  But finding these attorneys takes a bit more work than stopping by a counter after you've bought a gallon of Miracle-Gro.  (For the uninformed, take a look at ads in your local free weekly.)

The issue, presumably, is finding a price-point that will allow for compensating attorneys and also paying Wal-Mart  rent.  (Until, of course, a state alters its ethical rules to allow Wal-Mart to deliver legal services directly.)

But while FindLaw says getting legal services at Wal-Mart  might happen in the US, I'm predicting that it will.  It's simply a matter of time.  And once it comes in a Wal-Mart version, look for a slightly pricier version at Target.  After all, price signals quality.
