Oral Argument Podcast

P8220052Following on Michelle Meyer's lead, I had the pleasure  of talking with Joseph Miller and Christian Turner for the Oral Argument Podcast.  I'm always astonished at the extraordinary breadth of Joseph's and Christian's knowledge and interest.  We talked about legal history, mostly – State v. Mann and the Nat Turner rebellion and some on Confederate monuments and memorials and a little about a person from Athens whom I study: Thomas Cobb.  Some about federalism, too — which really needs to be a separate show.

The illustration is of Thomas Cobb's monument in the Oconee Hill Cemetery in Athens.  I can't believe it's been six years since I visited that cemetery; holy smokes the years went by fast.  Well, now that my colleague Gregg Polsky is moving to UGA I'll be down there a lot more frequently.

Great episode, Al (and Joe and Christian). Actually, I think Kim was the first TFL blogger to appear on OA, way back in Episode 17 (you and I are infinitely less cool, having appeared only in episodes 76 and 72, respectively, long after it was cool).

Ha ha — well the Loungers are well represented on Oral Argument. I'll never understand how Christian and Joe manage to tackle so many topics so well. Impressive.
