Following up on my March 10 post regarding my client (and ContractsProfBlog editor) Associate Professor Myanna Dellinger's tenure fight, I am pleased to report that Professor Dellinger has been awarded tenure by the University of South Dakota Board of Regents on the recommendation of University President James Abbott, following the unanimous recommendation of the law school faculty tenure committee and law school Dean Thomas Geu. Professor Dellinger becomes just the second current female tenured faculty member at the USD Law School (and soon to be the only, as longtime Professor Christine Hutton has recently announced her retirement). More changes are afoot at USD as Dean Geu has also announced his plans to step down from the Deanship, and USD just announced that current Vice President Sheila Gestring will replace retiring President James Abbott in June. Please join me in congratulating Myanna on this well-deserved recognition!
UPDATE: Associate Dean Tiffany Graham has written to inform me that two other women professors have received tenure at USD School of Law in the past: Martha Davis and Professor Emeritus Jo Pasqualucci.
As a condition of her tenure, it was stipulated by and between the parties that she is to open a faith based Legal Clinic to advocate, educate and litigate the funding and financing of adding Donald Trump to Mount Rushmore.
