On Monday, the Supreme Court struck a blow to the Trump administration, leaving in place a lower court opinion upholding one of California's so-called sanctuary laws that limits cooperation between law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. The Trump administration argued these types of laws seek to "undermine" federal immigration enforcement. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals had held local officials have no duty to help immigration agents enforce federal law.
