UMKC School of Law Seeks Applications and Nominations for the Douglass Stripp/Missouri Professorship in Advocacy
The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law seeks applicants or nominations for the Douglass Stripp/Missouri Professorship in Advocacy. This person will be a key leader in the school’s nationally-recognized advocacy program. The School of Law’s strong commitment to outstanding advocacy started in 1895 when the school was founded by judge and lawyers in Kansas City. The School of Law seeks candidates to build on that history through community engagement, teaching and curriculum development, research and collaboration with other disciplines, and organizing regional or national symposia.
Candidates may be lateral from another academic institution or experienced lawyers or judges. The position is for a 9-month appointment and is full-time with benefits. Subject-matter for teaching is flexible, but should include advocacy courses and leadership of the school’s appellate advocacy program. The School of Law seeks candidates with a strong commitment to educating a diverse group of lawyers, and those who will actively participate in our collegial, collaborative community. We especially welcome applications from candidates who would add diversity to our faculty.
Requirements: Candidates must have a Juris Doctor degree from a program accredited by the American Bar Association, or an equivalent degree, and at least 7 years experience in advocacy and/or teaching.
