He passed away in January 2025, at 102 years old. Leunchtenburg taught at Columbia University and then taught at the UNC history department. He produced The Perils of Prosperity, 1914-1932 (1958) and Franklin D. Roovesult and the New Deal, 1932-1940 (1963), and his last book that was published last year, Patriot Presidents: From George Washington to John Quincy Adams.
