South Texas College of Law Houston (STCL) invites applications from experienced faculty for a tenure-track (or possibly, if preferred, a presumptively renewable track) position as director of experiential education (exact title to be determined, commensurate with experience) beginning in the 2026–27 academic year. The director would oversee STCL’s experiential education program—including traditional clinics, externships, and the pro bono program. For information about some aspects of STCL’s experiential education program, please see https://www.stcl.edu/academics/experiential-education/.
Among other responsibilities, STCL’s director of experiential education is currently responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating, in collaboration with the faculty, deans and staff, a cohesive experiential curriculum for all STCL students. The director of experiential education also is currently responsible for budgeting/funding, certain personnel matters, and regulatory compliance for in-house clinics, externships and pro-bono programs. (The exact duties of the director are subject to change as we conduct a review or our program leadership structure.) The director of experiential education also teaches a reduced load of doctrinal or clinical courses.
For the director of experiential education position, we seek faculty candidates with extensive clinical teaching experience and, preferably, some experience directing clinical, externship, and/or pro bono programs. Candidates should have outstanding academic records and be committed to both excellence in teaching and sustained scholarly achievement.
