New York University School of Law has announced that Dean Troy McKenzie will be stepping down at the end of the 2026-27 school year. He has served in the position since 2022.

His stepping down strongly suggests that he did not get renewed. If that is true, it seems a pattern of top law schools hiring POCs in the George Floyd moment to be deans but then not supporting them. Shame on NYU if that’s the case. The gentleman’s way of doing it would be to tell him that he will get renewed but that if he doesn’t step down a year after he will get fired.
