UC Davis Seeks Faculty

This just in:

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications for two faculty positions (entry-level or lateral) beginning July 1, 2027 in either the Professor series or the Professor of Teaching series. We welcome strong applicants in all areas and have a particular need for applicants with interest or expertise in teaching first-year law courses, Professional Responsibility, or Evidence.

For the Professor series, we seek applicants with an established record demonstrating (or clear promise of, for entry-level tenure-track applicants) scholarly distinction in academic research, as well as a commitment to excellence in teaching, and maintenance of a strong academic community. Application for the Acting Professor/Professor of Law title requires a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research agenda, teaching evaluations (if applicable), a writing sample, and contact information for three (3) references.

For the Professor of Teaching series, applicants will be evaluated primarily on an established record demonstrating (or clear promise of, for entry-level applicants) excellence in teaching, instructional innovation, curriculum development, student mentoring, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. The committee will also consider evidence of professional or scholarly achievement related to pedagogy or the legal discipline, as well as meaningful university, professional, and public service. Application for the Professor of Teaching position requires a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of interest (teaching or pedagogy), teaching evaluations (if applicable), a writing sample, and contact information for three (3) references.

All candidates must apply through the UC Recruit system at the following link: https://recruit.ucdavis.edu/JPF07735.

For full consideration, applicants must apply by September 1, 2026, although we recommend submitting application materials as soon as possible because applications may be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please direct questions to Professor Gabriel “Jack” Chin, Chair of the Faculty Appointments Committee, via email at facultyappointments@law.ucdavis.edu.  The University of California is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
