Call For Applications: Clifford Scholar-in-Residence (Spring 2027)

Call for Applications: Clifford Scholar-in-Residence (Spring 2027)

In Spring 2027, DePaul College of Law will host a rising star in civil justice as the Seventh Annual Clifford Scholar-in-Residence. This program complements the annual Clifford Symposium, which for almost thirty years has brought together leading civil justice scholars to share ideas.

The Clifford Scholar-in-Residence program continues the Clifford tradition of developing up-and-coming civil justice scholars. The Scholar visits DePaul for one day during Spring 2027 and participates in classes and faculty activities commensurate with their area(s) of expertise, culminating in a presentation of interest to the DePaul community.

An honorarium of $10,000 will be paid to the selected Scholar-in-Residence, in addition to reimbursement of travel expenses.

The Clifford Scholar is selected by a committee of leading civil justice professors, led by Professor Stephan Landsman (DePaul and Brooklyn).  To apply, please submit the following no later than Thursday, October 15, 2026:

  • CV
  • Cover letter describing:  (1) your interest in civil justice; (2) your most recent scholarly work; and (3) the proposed topic for your public presentation.

Application materials should be submitted to lawdean@depaul.edu .
