Full-Time Tenure Track and Lateral Faculty Positions
New York Law School (NYLS), located in the heart of Lower Manhattan alongside New York City’s Financial District, Civic Center, and Tech Sector, invites both entry-level and lateral candidates to apply for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions. While our curricular needs range widely, and we welcome applications from candidates in all fields, we are focusing our search on two areas.
The first area is business law where we plan to hire for two positions. For the first position, we are accepting applications from candidates whose teaching and scholarly interests include corporations (including corporate governance), securities regulation, and commercial law. The ideal candidates will also have several years of practice experience in this area.
For the second position, we are accepting applications from candidates whose teaching and scholarly interests focus on the connections between business law and technology, including corporations, fintech, venture capital, entrepreneurship, and other courses related to evolving forms of business organization and financing.
The second area is criminal law where we are seeking a candidate who will teach the first-year criminal law course, criminal procedure, and other specialized topics. In addition to strong scholarly interests in criminal law, the ideal candidate will have several years practice experience in this area.
New York Law School seeks exceptional candidates who will advance our mission of preparing lawyers committed to the rule of law and the highest standards of the legal profession. We believe that diverse viewpoints, backgrounds, and experiences strengthen legal education and the profession itself—enriching classroom discussions, challenging untested assumptions, and better preparing our graduates to serve all communities in need of legal assistance. Excellence in legal education requires the full spectrum of human insight and experience.
Compensation
The salary range is from $155,000 to $200,000, expressed in annual terms, plus eligibility for a summer research stipend.
