Faculty Salaries at William & Mary and Virginia

One of the student newspapers at the College of William and Mary has collected and posted salary information for faculty and administrators there.  In light of our continuing coverage of the Gene Nichol case, readers might find the article and accompanying spreadsheet tables of some interest.  Outside of faculty in the higher paid programs (and law is one of those schools) the article points out that "few professors earn into the triple digits. Many assistant and associate professors earn less than $50,000."  The Cavalier Daily notoriously publishes UVa faculty salaries here.  (The data is a bit out of date.)

W&M has historically had low professorial salaries; I wasn't aware that that also crept into administrative positions. In some sense, it's good to hear that administrators aren't overcompensated (as they are at many, many schools), but it has always been disturbing that W&M fails to adequately compensate its professoriate.
