I'm pretty sure that the quotation marks in the first poster, and perhaps the ones around "people" and "working" in the second, though it's harder to say, are perfectly appropriate as I think it's clear they are scare quotes, indicating that the quoted word doesn't really mean what it purports to mean.
Yes, that's why I liked the first one. I admit, though, that the interpretation of "people" in scare quotes did not occur to me, although I like it. Sort of like "faculty" lounge . . .
