I think one might be the Capra classic, "You Can't Take it With You," which preceded the pairing of Barrymore and Stewart in "It's a Wonderful Life" by about 10 years. It's also interesting that Barrymore and Stewart had a reversal of fortune in those films because, in the first film, Stewart was the wealthy one. I saw this film on TCM, and it was charming, smart, and funny. I have not seen or read the play.
I would've guessed Amadeus.
