    The silence is deafening, The empty whiteness of the comments field is blinding. I will make a wild guess based on a Google image search, knowing it is wrong. Bronson Alcott's home? Hint time…

    You've got the time period right — it's antebellum, but the wrong side of the Mason-Dixon Line. This is a home associated with a famous southern literary figure, in a city I visit quite often. I'm not sure that's all that helpful — let me know if you want another hint.
