Further to my recent blogging on the controversy over the display of Confederate flags at the Lee Chapel, I want to have a (somewhat) related trivia question. The image at right is of a chapel commemorating the Confederacy. It's recently been the subject of a protest because the chapel's owners have prohibited the flying of the Confederate flag on the chapel grounds. Where is it? Once we get this figured out, I want to post a picture or two of a recent protest — where the flag is most definitely not "under glass."
Here's a picture of a protest on the sidewalk near the chapel.
This is the Confederate Memorial Chapel in Richmond, Virginia (Pelham Chapel). It was built after the war, part of a home for Confederate veterans. It sits a block off North Boulevard, just behind the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
You got that exactly right, CM. Nicely done.
When I was last up in Richmond there was a protest on the sidewalk alongside the chapel. There were people on both sides, actually — though the pro-Confederate flag crowd were larger. Here's a picture I took from the rear of the chapel, looking towards the protesters:
