Call for Papers: The AALS East Asian Law & Society Section invites submissions for a panel being organized to present at the 2020 AALS Annual Conference. The topic of the panel is "Challenges to the Rule of Law: Lessons from and for Asia." Like other parts of the world Asia is experiencing serious challenges to the rule of law, one of the main pillars of liberal democracy. The panel will explore what can be learned from the Asian experience, and how events elsewhere in the world might inform our understanding of the particular challenges in Asia.
Those interested in presenting a paper or a work in progress relevant to this topic are invited to submit an abstract (400-500 words long), to Judith McMorrow (judith.mcmorrow@bc.edu) and Craig Martin (craig.martin@washburn.edu), by July 14, 2019. A selection committee will consider submissions and notify those selected in early August. It is anticipated that the panel will consist of four speakers.
