When the Saints Go Marching In

"When the Saints Go Marching In" is a traditional spiritual of unknown origin, first recorded by the Paramount Jubilee Singers in 1923. The early versions in the 1920s were generally slow and stately, but the song later became a lively jazz standard following Louis Armstrong's 1938 release.

I recently came across this Weavers' clip from the 2003 tribute concert for Harold Leventhal (which, btw, was the model for the Christopher Guest parody "A Mighty Wind"). Pete Seeger's voice was pretty much shot by then, but he does hit one high note, which is inspirational. Ronnie Gilbert, on the other hand, could still belt it out.

Long introduction, music begins around 3:50
