The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced its nominees for the 82nd Academy Awards yesterday. How did you do on your prognostication?
Beginning today, I'll post an "Oscar Trivia" question each day until March 7, when Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin co-host the awards show. I'll provide the answer to each question on the following day as a "comment," unless, as I expect, one or more readers beat me to it.
Have fun! Here goes!
Question: What do the films On Golden Pond, Network, Coming Home, and As Good As It Gets have in common?
They all won both Best Actor and Best Actress. What's my prize?
True, but other films can make the same claim.
They won best actor and actress but didn't win best picture.
Matt is correct. Additional info:
On Golden Pond (Hepburn and Fonda); Chariots of Fire (Best Picture)
Network (Dunaway and Finch); Rocky (Best Picture)
Coming Home (Fonda and Voight); The Deer Hunter (Best Picture)
As Good As It Gets (Hunt and Nicholson); Titanic (Best Picture)
What do "On Golden Pond" and the television series, "Newhart," have in common?
Poking around on the internet suggests that some leftover footage from the movie was later used for the opening of the TV show.

Very interesting! Thanks, Kelly!
Curses! I suppose I was still technically right, since the question did not say "to the exclusion of all other films". Of course, then the answer that they were all films would technically be correct too, so I will still accept my defeat with dignity.
