Denver Seeks Director of Research

The Institute
for the Advancement of the American Legal System at the University of Denver
seeks a Director of Research to begin in June 2010.  The Institute is dedicated
to improving the process and culture of the civil justice system through
objective research and innovative and practical proposals to serve the
individuals and organizations who rely on the legal system to clarify rights
and resolve disputes.  Our two current major initiatives involve judicial
selection and performance evaluation; and making the civil justice process less
expensive, more efficient and more accessible.  Information on the Institute is

The Director
of Research designs research projects to support the Institute’s mission;
supervises the Institute’s research staff (currently three members) and
graduate student interns; and finalizes reports, articles and other 
publishable-quality written material to communicate our
research clearly and effectively.

Applicants
must have a graduate degree in an area related to our work and at least 5 and
preferably at least 10 years of experience analyzing or working with or in
courts or representing clients in litigation. Experience should include
managing a small group of people effectively; meeting deadlines; and organizing
and completing complex projects.  Applicants must be familiar with major social
science research methods, have excellent writing and editorial skills and be
able to synthesize best practices or other recommendations suggested by the
research.  Salary level: $115,000 to $125,000, depending upon experience.
